Acceptance & Surrender

Assalamualaikum and good morning to everyone!
In this post, I’m going to talk about acceptance and
surrender.
What does surrender mean?
According to Merriam-Webster (n.d.), it means:
To yield to the power,
control, or possession of another upon compulsion or demand.
How does this correlate with acceptance? There are people
interchanging these words.
It depends on how you react to something and that can
determine whether you accept or you
surrender.
For instance, let’s say someone calls you stupid, will you
just accept the fact that someone calls you stupid or will you defend yourself?
If you ‘accept’, it is not considered as acceptance anymore. It is surrender.
Honestly, it all depends on the context, but why would you
accept someone calling you stupid? I believe everyone’s first reaction for this
kind of this situation would be to defend him/herself. It is perfectly normal
to defend yourself and do not ever feel bad about it.
This is why acceptance and surrender do not mean the same
thing.
This is what I want to stress on this post: you do not
necessarily have to accept everything, but it doesn’t mean you have to
surrender either. It all depends on the situation, whether it allows you to
accept or to surrender.
That’s all for now. See you in the next post. Toodles!
Much love,
Farzana
