Social Acceptance
Saturday, June 17, 2017 | 0 comments
Hello everyone! You’ve read the title right—today, I’m going to talk about social acceptance.

What does that mean? Have you ever heard of it?

In this life, we live with hopes and expectations. Of course, it is related to perfectionism. Whether we want it or not, it is a lifetime concept that all of us will adapt to. In this case, we can relate it to social acceptance.

According to Voices of Youth (n.d.), we seek acceptance in everything we do because we have been driven with boundaries and lines that we must not cross. There is an everlasting need for likeness and perfection caused by society, driving us towards letting down the saneness and normality. This indicates that somehow, we do things for the sake of other people.

For instance, there are people setting up beauty standards for women. Women need to have a 26-inch waist, fair and rosy skin in order to be accepted in the society.

Does this affect us? Yes, in a way, it will. We will have the thinking that we should live by following people’s needs and wants, but it is actually our needs and wants that are the most important. We will live in fear for not reaching the society’s standard and we will never have the freedom for ourselves.

So, do you think social acceptance is relevant to you? Only you can answer that.

That is all from me. Thank you for reading.

Much love, Farzana.
